Ibraheem Malik Wins Ultimo Title

Ibraheem added to Quinton's Tony Miles Checkmates Club honours by winning an Ultimo title in the Under-9 Gigafinals at Dukinfield, Cheshire. Ibraheem and another nine Worcestershire players are invited to the Terafinal and Challengers Tournaments at Warwick on 21 and 22 August 2010. The other Worcester palyers are: Sophia Emmanuel Andrew Fergusson and Matthew Fergusson (all Tony Miles Checkmates), Joseph Friar and James Friar (both Worcester Junior Chess Academy), Felicity Parker, Philp Purcell, Katherine Smith and Christopher Smith (all King Edward VI, Fiveways, Birmingham).

The Northern Gigafinal at Dukinfield attracted over 800 competitors including 29 from Worcestershire. Scoring any points in such elite company is a great achievement because they are the cream of over 70,000 who started in this great tournament. Worcester payers' achievements are shown below with those players whose names are bold being invited to the Warwick tournaments.
