Worcester enter an additional rapidplay team
16 Jun 2026. The annual meeting of the county chess association agreed to ask for entries to a new u1350 rapidplay league. There werr rules revisions to clarify the role of players’ ratings for determining eligibility to play in rating limited competitions and determining board order. Captains should place players in order rating, but may use discretion about board order for players plus or minus 100 rating points. Players without an A or K rating should receive an estimated "local" rating from the tournament controller before playing in rating limited teams. Estimated local ratings are replaced by actual new A or K ratings immediately after publication by the ECF ratings website. Ratings of all players are updated in January for determining board order.
4 June 2026. The 190th annual meeting of the club decided to enter a further team in the rapidplay leagues subject to the county association agreeing to the new competition.
City team in the 2026-7 Championship League
17 Sep 2026. First fixture due against Redditch at home.
1 Sep 2026. Five teams, the same as last season, entered: Kidderminster, Longbridge A, Longbridge B, Malvern, Redditch and Worcester City.
4 June 2026. Rob Sutton was re-elected as captain the of City team in the Championship League.
