30 May 2024. The 188th annual meeting of the club decided to enter teams in all five of the county association’s five leagues
City team finish fourth
10 Apr 2025. Worcester lost heavily to Longbridge and are pushed into fourth place in the Table. Only captain Rob Sutton was able to draw his game.
6 Mar 2025. With all top players available, Worcester beat table topping Redditch to go up the table.
27 Jan 2025. Back to winning ways in a home match against Kidderminster.Scott Oxtoby, Rob Sutton and Chris Lee won their games.
20 Jan 2025. In the second January fixture against Halesowen, Worcester lost heavily with only Ray Collett and Scott Oxtoby able to score draws.
9 Jan 2025. The City team made a good start to the New Year with a home win against Malvern.
13 Dec 2024. Only Ed Osbourn and Ed Higgs were able to darw their games in the away match against Malvern.
30 Oct 2024. The City team was without leading players in its away match at Redditch and lost 3-2. Dorin Luca was the only Worcester player to win.
17 Oct 2024. Longbridge beat Worcester City in the Championship League. Ed Higgs was the only Worcester player to win.
9 Oct 2024. The City team won their second match. Stephen Mellor, Dorin Luca and Ray Collett won their games in the away match against Kidderminster.
12 Sep 2024. Worcester Cty got off to a good start in the season with a win against Halesowen 3½-1½. Dorin Luca, Ray Collett, and Rob Sutton won their games.

Rooks team in the 2024-5 Challengers League are runners-up
26 Mar 2025. The Rooks travelled for their last match of the season to play Redditch. Excellent performances from Dorin Luca and Sai Rentachintala secured a draw and second place in the league.
21 Mar 2025. The Rooks won their away match with Malvern to go into second position in the table, but Redditch have matches in hand and the Rooks cannot catch Redditch even by defeating them in the final away fixture. Chris Lee and Scott Oxtoby won their games. See full results.
13 Feb 2025. In a busy night for the club with two fixtures against Longbridge, the Rooks drew. Dorin Luca won his game. See full results.
21 Nov 2014. Minus captain, Chris Lee stepped in, but Longbridge turned out a highly rated team and won. Keith won his second game for the Challengers and Tony held Stephen Woodhouse to a draw from a complex late middlegame position by simplifying to a minor piece ending with three pawns each.
14 Nov 2024. Worcester defeated Malvern and new plaer Keith scored a win.
19 Sep 2024. In the first Rooks match of the season, Worcester’s hopes were high when they found Redditch had to default board 4. Although Worcester was out-rated on board 1, the other two games were between players with similar ratings. These games were balanced well into the middle games, but Redditch players prevailed on both.
1 Sep 2024. Stourbridge decided to play in the District league rather than the Challengers. First match result awaited.

13 Mar 2025. Worcester lost the first leg of their home fixture with Longbridge and won the second. The team remains at the foot of the table with one fixture only against Redditch to complete their campaign and avoid the wooden spoon.
23 Jan 2025. Worcester drew overall in their away fixture against leaders Kidderminster, but remain at the foot of the table. Dorin Luca and Rob Sutton finished with positive scores.
28 Nov 2024. The team lost heavily to Longbridge and are now bottom of the table. Only Tony Shaw was able to hold his own with two draws.
31 Oct 2024. The team drew at home in both legs of the fixture with Kidderminster
24 Oct 2024. In spite of Joe’s absence and with Aiden substituting on board 4, the team scored two match draws. The games were hard fought. In the first leg match, boards 1 and 2 went to rook and pawn endings. Ray lost out to Harry from an equal position and Dorin conducted a grim defence a pawn down to draw his game and the match.

Pawns Rapidplay under-1650 league 2024-5
30 Mar 2025. Longbridge have conceded their fixture on 3 April.
6 Mar 2025.
The Pawns home match against Redditch took a dramatic turn after the first leg of the fixture. The Pawns turned aropund a 1-3 deficit and scored a 4-0 victory in the second half of the fixture. These reults mean that the Pwns go second in the table, but they cannot catch runaway leaders Kidderminster.
5 Mar 2025. After a long winter break the team returned to action, but were unable to improve on their match scores against the same team early in the season and lost heavily.
7 Nov 2024. The team picked itself off the floor to draw both legs of the fixture with Redditch.
26 Sep 2024. The Pawns selected new players for their first home match against Kidderminster in the new league. Kidderminster turned out an experienced team led by Cameron who was delighted in a sweeping victory in his first match as captain. Although Alex eventually lost, he did well by holding off experienced John Varilone for an extended game in the final result of the evening.

Dan Lambourne organised a two round jamboree for Worcestershire Chess Association for the Towers Cup at Meadow Farm, Dagnall End Redditch. Six teams entered: Kidderminster, Longbridge A, Longbridge B, Malvern, Redditch, and Worcester. Round 2 is to be played on 27 Aug at the same venue.
13 Aug 2025 After round 1, Worcester shared 4-5th positions with Malvern scoring 1½ points. The two Longbridge teams and Redditch had 3 points each, Worcester and Malvern 1½ points and Kidderminster went home without scoring.
