2011-12 All-play-all

Club, Major, and Minor Trophies

The tournament runs for the whole season and is open to all members of the club. Players with the most points win trophies, so it is important to play as many games as possible. Althogh there are three sections (Club, Minor and Novice) in the All-play-all, players from different sections can play each other and the score count the tournament and grading. Members may not refuse a challenge if optional dates on club nights are offered. Results of games played with clocks will be submitted for standard play grading.

Time control

The first time control is at 75 minutes for the first 35 moves. After completion of black's 35th move, both clocks should be turned back 15 minutes and the game completed in the remaining time using quick play finish rules.

Ungraded players need not record their moves, but cannot claim a game on time against an opponent who does. Graded players should always play with a clock and record their moves until the last five minues of the game.

Eligibility for Major and Minor Trophies

The player with the highest score wins the Club trophy and if more than one player has the highest score, the tie-break will be the best score against players in the same or higher section. A player who wins the Club Trophy cannot also win a second trophy in this tournament. The player with the highest score and graded below 130 wins the Minor Trophy. The Novice Trophy is won by a player with the highest score who has not had a grade published by the ECF or BCF since 2000 or who is new member of the club graded below 130 or . The Minor and the Novice Trophies can be shared.
