Worcester congress is back!

The county association is reviving the Worcester summer congress with the help of The King's School Worcester and Andrew Farthing. Our aim is to provide low-cost congress chess for Worcestershire county players and it was decided there would be no cash prizes. Players will compete instead for county titles and trophies.

Venue

The congress is at the King's School Worcester right in the heart of the city. See entry form for location and car parking. Hot beverages will be available for a donation and there will be a chess bookstall in aid of St Richard's Hospice.

Eligibile players

Members of Worcestershire Chess Association county teams and all members of afficiated clubs are eligible for entry to compete for Worcestershire county chess titles.

Titles and prizes

Players compete for the titles: Worcestershire Individual Champion, Women's Champion, Junior Champion, and Minor Champion. There will also be a prize for the highest placed ungraded player.

Tournament format

There will be one Swiss Tournament and players will compete for Worcestershire Individual titles and trophies.

Bookstall and catering

Catering. Players will be able to make themselves tea and coffee in a neigbouring room for a small donation. The school is only a few minutes' walk from city centre fast food shops and outlets that sell snacks and sandwiches.

Bookstall. Andrew Farthing has put together a collection of second-hand chess books at very reasonable prices in aid of St Richard's Hospice. Andrew has prepared a catalogue of these books and players may reserve copies by contacting Andrew by e-mail. Cash sales only.
