Julie Wilson Reports: Fallowfield had a good exciting win. Wilson was the exchange up but chickened out and offered a draw when short of time. Stourbridge had a good draw on board 4 and board 3 turned out as predicted from grades.

Julie Wilson reports: On board 1, Jackson had to give up the exchange to stop Wilson getting one of those 'queen sacrifice smothered knight mates'. Short of time Jackson then blundered a knight and resigned. Woodall's game looked even until he went wrong near the end. Ambrose won when his opponent overlooked a combination. Board 3 ast to finish. Humphries was a pawn down and short of time eventually to lose on time.

John Fahy reports. The final game of the season went down to the last few minutes to decide who finished where concerning all four teams. Stourbridge took a surprise lead when Dave Scriven amazingly won on board one. No one had expected that, certainly not Dave in the pre-match banter. Jon Turner levelled things up for Warley on board 3 after a good tussle. Warley then went in front with a win on board 4, following a game in which both players had good position at different times. All now depended on board 2 to decide the League Championship. The game was nail-biting. Both players had potential wins with both kings under severe pressure and just a few minutes left on the clocks. Julie was probably one move short of a win and couldn't allow Ian the chance to force his own mate so Julie and Ian agreed a draw. Warley had won and take the league title.

Match report Sam Bradley. Warley were without borads 3 and 4 at the start of the match. Bradley picked a pawn up in the opening. Charlie-Ann soon gained a great position and was material up, but lack of king safety resulted in perpetual check. Board 1 looked even with all to play for after Charlie-Ann's win. Near the end, Colin was was two pawns up in knight and pawn against bishop and pawn, but under time pressure, Colin lost the game. Board 2 was the last to finish giving the win to Stourbridge.

David Blower reports. The Arkell-Blower game attracted a crowd of spectators for the ending. It had ebbed and flowed with tension high and time running low for both players. "Daniel played brilliantly despite losing" wrote his opponent. He tested Blowers' nerves to the limit and only an error with Blower, down to his last 2 minutes, deprived Arkell of a draw.
