Pavel Besedin and Rob Sutton win prizes at Worcester

Andrew Farthing Pavel Besedin

Eight City members played at the fourth Worcester Open Congress held 21-22 July at the University of Worcester.

Pavel was unable to repeat last year's triumph in the Open and came second equal behind winner Richard Jones and scoring 4 points. Three other City players were in the Open with Ed Osbourn highest placed of them. Ed scored 2½ points and was followed by Peter Kitson on 1½ and Ray Collett on 1 point.

New member Dave Roberts was the only City representative in the Major. Still a little rusty, he scored a creditable 2½ points.

Rob Sutton claimed a shared second place in the Minor with 4 points. There were also good performances from John Hesketh and Colin Vernon who both scored 2½.

Visit the congress website for full details and more pictures.
