Worcester Bishops Team 2009-2010

Having gained promotion, the Bishops team played in Division 1 of the Worcester & District League. Team captain was Andrew Farthing. In Division 1 Worcester competed against five other teams that we played home and away. Matches were over 4 boards. Report of 2009-10 Season

Andrew states that the Bishop's 4th place was "excellent considering the strength of the opposition". All regular team members performed above their grading and this was illustrated by holding the eventual League Champions to an away draw where Worcester players were substantially outgraded on all four boards. Jim Keene turned out 7 times and put in an excellent score to achieve a grading performance of 156 compared with a published grade of 142. Captain Andrew Farthing scored the most points, 5, from 9 games. Ray Collett turned out for every match and new member Ed Osbourn (ungraded) got a heroic draw against an opponent with a grade of 134 in the drawn match with Malvern.
