Worcester City Team 2010-2011

Introducing the team

The City team played in Division 1 of the Worcester County League and participated in the Wheatley Memorial Handicap Team Knock Out Competition. Team captain was Ray Collett and other regular members of the team were Steve Mellor, Peter Kitson and Andrew Farthing. Worcester City's new player Ed Osbourn was graded at 157 and played board 3. Previous season's results are on the 2009-10 page.

County League

In Division 1, Worcester City faced Hagley, Halesowen 1, Kidderminster 1, and Malvern. Worcester City gained three decisive victories in the league before Christmas. A very welcome turn-around in form compared with the last few seasons. January also began well with a decisive win against Malvern, but then went on to lose to Hagley, and Halesowen away and Kidderminster at home. In the final match of the season, an emphatic win against Kidderminster won the county league title for Worcester City for the first time since 1988.
