Worcester Pawns 2013-4 season

Introducing the Team

Roger Yates is the captain and the Pawns team plays in Division 2 of the Worcester & District League. The team competes against six other teams: Droitwich, Greenlands, Hagley, Kidderminster Rooks, and Redditch B, and Stourbridge. We play each team once only this year because of the larger number of teams resulting from Greenlands' re-entry. Matches are over 4 boards. Time control is 35 moves in 1¼ hours followed by an additional 15 min to complete the game. Worcester Pawns win Division 2

5 Mar. The team finish a splendid season with wins in all matches and a 4-0 whitwash of Stourbridge away.
26 Feb. Substitute captain, Ray Collett, and first outing this season for Rob Walkowiak brought the win away at Kidderminster.
30 Jan. With the captain and two regular team members away, the Pawns did well in this match. New players John Hesketh scored a full point and Steve Nicholls drew on board 4.
5 Dec. A win at hme against Redditch B
17 Oct. In spite of the president losing on board 1, the team took home both match points against Droitwich.
4 Oct. In the first match of the season, the Pawns comfortably beat Hagley, who were without captain Andrew Moore.
