Worcester Pawns share Division 2 title for 2014-5 season

Introducing the Team

Worcester Pawns are current Division 2 Champions. Roger Yates is the captain and the Pawns team plays in Division 2 of the Worcester & District League. The team competes against five other teams: Droitwich, Greenlands, Kidderminster Pawns, and Redditch B, and Stourbridge. Matches are over 4 boards. 2014-5 news

4 Sep. Division 2 championship decided. With The Pawns team and Stourbridge on equal match points and having fought each other to a draw, Stourbridge were ahead on game points gained by defaults. The chief officers of the league were members of these two clubs and they felt the division 2 championship should be shared so placed matters in the hands of the annual meeting. The meeting shared
1 Apr. Sourbridge secure a second walkover win against Redditch B so the Pawns will have to wait until the annaual meeting.
17 Feb. Worcester Pawns have a 3½-½ away win over Greenlands to complete their campaign with . This should guarantee a Division 2 championship, because Stourbridge would need to win their last two matches 4 - 0 to share the title.
8 Oct. Victory in the first match away to Redditch B
10 Sep. The format of Division 2 was decided: teams play each other once. Kidderminster pawns replace their Rooks team and Hagley withdrew from Division 2.
